ATTENTION ALL GITGA’ATA!! Your Nation wants your input on a Gitga’at Commercial Fishing Plan. Gitga’at along with other First Nations on the coast have entered into a Fisheries Reconciliation Agreement with Canada that will provide greater and more flexible commercial fishing opportunities for Gitga’ata fishers. The plan we are developing will outline to types of fishing Gitga’ata want to do to take full advantage of these opportunities.

We will be asking for you input in several ways:

· We are planning the first of several virtual community meetings for January 19 at 630pm. We will provide background information and ask for your input. Here’s the Zoom link: https://gitgaat.zoom.us/j/87650870763?pwd=WEozSC9PSDVBMzd0eklGUDZydExodz09

· We will be reaching out to community members for small-group and 1-on-1 discussions

· We will be posting an online survey and using the results to inform our planning

· Community members can reach the team involved in the planning – contact information is on the posted material.

We have posted some background information about the Fisheries Reconciliation Agreement and new Commercial Fishing opportunities here. We hope to see and hear from many of you at the January 19th virtual community meeting. And look out for the link to the survey coming very soon.
